Henry Alteri, 77, was the son of the late Peter and Eugenia Canali Alteri. Henry was a lifelong Rotterdam resident and a graduate of Draper High School. He served with the U.S. Army in Korea. Henry was a member of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, the Rotterdam Kiwanis and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was an avid sports fan and loved to play golf, especially with the Canali's Sparklers Golf League.

For many years, Henry and his brother, Dominic, owned and operated Canali's Restaurant, a family business their mother began in 1947. He retired in 1992.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Victoria Spaziani Alteri; four children; his sister, Catherine DeAngelis and her husband, Guy of Amsterdam; two sisters-in-law, Mary Buonanno of Rotterdam and Emily Spaziani of Elmira, NY; his brother-in-law, Ulisse Spaziani and his wife, Nellie, also of Elmira, NY; and seven grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews.
