Ruth Marie (Bailey) Caskey, 102, of Winfield, Kansas, passed away Saturday night, August 4, 2018 at Winfield Senior Living.
Born on April 29, 1916 to Samuel H. and Carrie E. (Gillette) Bailey in Coffeyville, Kansas. Ruth had four half-siblings: Anna Elizabeth, John, Norman and George David Bailey. Ruth's father died when she was four years old. Her mother remarried in 1930 to James B. McCoy. Ruth married Guy Eugene “G.E.” Caskey in 1939.
She was a member of Millington Street Baptist Church. Ruth was a music teacher for many years, teaching piano, organ, voice, accordion, violin and other instruments. She was a member of the Walnut Valley Music Teachers Association and was the pianist for the Winfield Gospelaires. She was church pianist or organist for many of the churches where she attended over the years. Ruth retired in 2005 but still loved to play the piano for her family when they came to visit.
Ruth is survived by her son, Ron (Jeannine) Caskey of Firestone, Colorado; Grandchildren (Spouses),Chad (Dawn) Caskey of Castle Rock, CO, Cade (Jen) Caskey of Castle Rock, CO, Michael (Kathy) Inman of Rye, CO, Michelle (Sam) Martson of Ordway, CO, Marsha “Roxie” Inman of Denver, CO, Randy (Lisa) Inman of Aurora, CO, Tammy (Paul) Royce of Midland, MI, and Trudy (Chad) Harrington of Rutland, VT; 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughters, Sylvia Corrine Caskey and Jeanne Marie (Caskey) Inman, son-in-law, Dan L. Inman, and great-great grandson, Asher Hummer Carris.
Funeral services will be held Saturday August 11, 2018 at 10:30 am at Millington Street Baptist Church in Winfield. Interment will be at the Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville, Kansas at 2:30 that afternoon. A visitation will be held at Miles Funeral Service in Winfield Friday evening from 5 to 8 P.M.
