DALHART - Robert Loyd Kelley, 97, died Wednesday, May 2, 2007.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with Dr. Clifford Dane officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home.
Robert Loyd Kelley passed to his eternal reward on Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Coon Memorial Home in Dalhart at the age of 97; Loyd was born Dec. 29, 1909, in Collingsworth County to T.F. and Vivian Hamilton Kelley.
During his lifetime Loyd was married to four wives, Gladys Clifton, Audrey Mae Kiker, Minnie Abla and Lillian Peden. They all preceded him in death.
In his early adult life Loyd was employed as a ranch hand for various ranches of the Panhandle. He served as a cook for cattle drives. Later, he operated Kelley's Dairy, and farmed. From 1952 to 1954 he bottled and sold Grade A Raw Milk to customers and grocery stores in Dalhart. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Dalhart. He was also a member of Gideons International. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal friend and faithful Christian worker.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; eight brothers; a sister; and a daughter.
Survivors left to cherish his memory include a daughter, Mildred Clinkenbeard of Osage Beach, Mo.; two sons, Ray Kelley and wife Donald Ruth of Amarillo and Robert P. Kelley and wife Linda of Marfa; a sister, Dorothy Norcia of Sebestapol, Calif.; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a "whole host" of friends.
The family suggests memorials be to Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800.
