Clara C. Summerville, 101, formerly of Valley Street, Brookville, and a guest at Jefferson Manor, died on Friday, December 19, 2003 at Jefferson Manor.

She was born on March 20, 1902 in Warsaw Twp., the daughter of Elmer Wray Cooper and Cora Lulu Temple. She was married to Jay Harold Summerville, he preceded her in death on April 14, 1957.

Mrs. Summerville attended Clarion Normal Scchool. She attended Dubois Business College. She taught school in the Beechwoods area, and did clerical work for 25 years at Jefferson Electric in Brookville.

She was active in church affairs and was a member for 80 years at the Presbyterian Church. She was a past matron of Eastern Star and a member of the Martha V. Conrad Study Club.

Surviving are 3 sons, 3 daughters, 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters and a brother.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday at McKinney Funeral Home, Brookville, the the Rev. Thomas Parlett officiating. Interment followed in Pisgah Cemetery, Corsica.
