Dora Jean Booher-Shields, 80, of Melody Manor in Kittanning, died Saturday, Nov. 15, 2008, in Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. She was born July 7, 1928, on Booher Road in Center Hill, North Buffalo Township, to Ross and Ruth (Bowser) Booher. She was a homemaker and a lifelong member of Center Hill Church of the Brethren. She was a devoted mother who loved playing bingo, spending time with her family, and yard sales. Survivors include her daughter, Sara Stover, of Worthington; sons, Walter E. Mechling Jr. and Nancy Lowers, of Center Hill, Larry Booher and Janet Dunbar, of Kittanning, and Mike (Juanita) Booher, of Kittanning; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Dennis John, of Kittanning; and ex-husband, Dennis Shields, of Kittanning. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter E. Mechling Sr.; three daughters, Jean Johns, Della Shields and Denise Shields; two sisters, Viola Edwards and Edna Booher; three half sisters, Flora McHadden, Bertha Goldinger and Violet Booher; and two half brothers, Memmaule Booher and Parker Booher. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the SNYDER-CRISSMAN FUNERAL HOME, Kittanning, where services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev.
