Golden, Ill.,-. March 22.—Mrs. Ivin Black has received word that her aunt. Mrs. Orpha Bottorff. one of the most prominent and highly regarded women of New London, Mo, was pleasantly surprised by the many visits of friends and cards received on her 90th birthday anniversary on March 4. A tea was served in the afternoon to the friends gathered in the home, decorated with ferns, potted plants and cut flowers. Mrs. Bottorff was assisted in the reception of her guests by her two daughters, Mrs. Ed Morris of Jefferson City and Mrs. Pledge Flowerree of Parsons. Kas

She has been affiliated with the Methodist church since reaching the age of 13. and has been active in church work ever since, also being a leader in the Women's Christian Temperance union and other civic enterprises. Although 90 years old. Mrs. Bottorff maintains the use of all of her faculties and is an interesting conversationalist and keeps abreast with the times.

Mrs. Bottorff was born on March 4. 1851. at La Prairie, Ill., a daughter of Anson and Sarah Anient. On March 14. 1877, she was married to Thomas F. Bottorff in La Prairie, and they resided on the Emery Lancaster farm, the Bottorff homestead, where the Bottorff family settled when coming to this vicinity from Indiana in 1833. In 1895. she and Mr. Bottorff moved to Monroe City, and in 1905 she moved to a farm in Ralls county near New London, later moving to New London proper.

Mrs. Bottorff is the mother of six children: Mrs. Cosy Ray and Miss France Bottorff. deceased, Fred and Bert G Bottorff of New London. Mrs Ed Morris of Jefferson City, and Mrs. Pledge Flowerree of Parsons, Kas. She also helped rear two other children of Mr. Bottorff's by a previous marriage, Albert of Pueblo Colo,, and Oscar of McFadden, Wyo.
