1929 - 2007
Nicheside service for Betty Lou Fidler will be held Thursday, May 3rd, 11:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park Pavilion, Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary. She is survived by her husband, John; children, Terrie and Pat Sheeren, Tommy and Kimberly Preston, and Patty Steck and Mark Williams; stepsons, Rick and Bob Fidler and families. Affectionately referred to as "Grandma Luce" by her grandchildren, Brian, Shelly, Christopher, Kevin and Nickie; great-grandchildren, Tanner, Tori, Clayton, Jordan, Dylan and Preston; extended family and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Eula Lee Crawford; and her four sisters, Joann, Norma Jean, Edwina and Louise. Betty Lou came to California in the early 1930's with her parents and sisters from Oklahoma. Settling in Bakersfield, she attended local schools and graduated in 1947 from Bakersfield High School, (KCHS). Homemaking was her primary vocation, although on occasion she would assist her family by working outside the home. She was happiest when she could gather with her family and friends. RV outings were numerous with family as well as the Kern County Shrine Club, Moble Nobles. Pismo was probably her favorite place to visit. Fishing became a relaxing pastime during her travels but her competitive nature kicked in especially when it came to who caught the biggest fish. She loved the outdoors not only in her travels but also at her home. It was not uncommon to see her walking though her garden making sure that all was tidy and neatly manicured. Betty Lou will always be remembered for her love of life, family and friends; she enjoyed helping others, especially those she loved. She was a caring listener and will be dearly missed for her beautiful smile and fun loving nature. She will be in our hearts forever. In God's care you rest above, in our hearts you rest with love, memories of you are ours to keep, our words are few but our love is deep. "Love Forever" Betty Lou Fidler May 29, 1929 - April 25, 2007
