Obituary.

The funeral of Mrs. J.M. Baughman was conducted Saturday afternoon in Greenwood cemetery by Edwin C. Michael, pastor of the Christian church. A quartet composed of Mrs. Ida Casteel, Mrs. N.B. Wall, Roy Taylor, and John Raybourn sang two numbers, "Rock of Ages," and "Going Down the Valley." Several members of the Auxiliary were present.

Mrs. Teresa Baughman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. McGruder Tannahill was born May 12, 1844. On October 25, 1863 she was married to William Bagwell in Emporia, Kans. To this union was born George Riley, December 25, 1866 and one daughter, Lena Mae, Dec. 15, 1873. Mr. Bagwell passed away May 22, 1874.

On February 24, 1878 the deceased was married to J.M. Baughman. To this union there was born one son, Walter, on June 29, 1879 and one daughter, Etta Cleora, July 4, 1885. Mr. Baughman passed away Feb. 4, 1914 in Sedan, Kans.

Since the death of her husband Mrs. Baughman had spent most of her time with her daughter in St. Louis. She passed away however in Bartlesville, Okla., June 21, 1933 at the age of 89 years, 1 month and 9 days. The deceased became a member of the Christian church in Sedan about 1915 and lived a faithful Christian life. She was also a member of the Woman's Relief Corps and was quite active in this helpful organization.

Her live was characterized by unusual perseverance. When she was gown because of unavoidable circumstances she had not learned to read and write and felt that she needed this knowledge, especially so she would be able to write and received letters. She overcame this handicap by walking ten miles to the home of a neighbor who in due time taught her how to read and write.

Relatives and friends from out of Sedan who attended the funeral were Mrs. Arlene Short and Son, Byron, of Arkansas City, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Baughman and son, Jay, and Mrs. Dollie Alger of Bartlesville, Okla., Mrs. Etta Myers, Mr. and Mrs. James Myers and son, Roy Myers, also Mr. A. Daub, all of St. Louis, Mo.
