Born April 24, 1922 in Cleveland County he was retired from Fasco Industries as a mechanic. Mr. Richards pitched professional baseball for the Lincolnton Cardinals in the Western Carolina Class D League from 1948-1951 and was a member of Knob Creek United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Carroll and Austin Richards; and eight sisters, Annie Buff, Katie Leonhardt, Maude Murray, Madge Johnson, Elva Brown, Janie Guess, Marjorie Ledford and Monta Lou Meade.
