Mr. Duane Byron Ayers, Jr., 82, of Holcomb, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 at his residence. He was born May 17, 1936 in Tunkhannock, PA to Duane Byron Sr. and Thelma L Garey Ayers. Mr. Ayers spent most of his working life in construction and was a member of the Lighthouse Church of God. He faithfully served our country in the United States Air Force. Mr. Ayers will be remembered as a devoted Christian and a dedicated family man.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service with Rev. Kevin Tribble and Rev. Farrell Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the Sparta Cemetery near Holcomb. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Tuesday evening and one hour prior to the service Wednesday all at McKibben and Guinn.

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Mabry Talley(Ken) of Holcomb and Mary Hoss(Dan) of Salisbury, TN; three sons, Travis Carnell of Holcomb, Richard “Buddy” Ayers(Diane) of Holcomb, and Jimmy Ayers(Amy) of Senatobia; two sisters, Eleanor Shoemaker of Pennsylvania and Christine King of Florida; four brothers, Jim Ayers of Florida, Bill Ayers of New York, Pete Ayers of New York and Bob Ayers of Pennsylvania; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 57 years, Alice Ayers; four sisters and one brother.

Pallbearers will be James Ayers, Joe Best, Thomas Counts, Cody DeLoach, Shannon Harris, Brandon Mabry, Justin Mabry and Roger Morris.
