Dennis Dieckman, formerly of Michigan, lost his battle with cancer and passed away on July 27, 2018 at home in Buena Vista, VA.

A master of whatever he attempted, Dennis won a PGA event and a US Billiards event.

Dennis began making custom pool cues in 1973. He was a founding member of both the American and International Cuemakers Associations. As an internationally recognized custom cuemaker and teacher of cuemaking at his Cueniversity, he built all types of cues and was especially known for his carom cues. The First National Billiard Exchange published his writings in the 1990s. In 2008, he was inducted in the International Cuemakers Association Hall of Fame. He also had cues placed at the Smithsonian Institution.

Vietnam - Dennis took Basic at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas, Photo Interpretation school at Lowry AFB in Denver, OJT Foward Air Control at Bergstrom AFB and Fort Hood. Soon afterward, he found himself in Saigon.

Snippets from Dennis' personal website:

"I spent 33 months as an advisor to the 18th ARVN ID in a quaint little town named Xuan Loc in Long Khanh Province which was 72 klicks from Saigon on Highway One to the east and a little north in III Corps. I lived, ate, worked and almost died a few times with my Vietnamese counterparts that i worked with day in and day out. I was with MACV [Military Assistance Command Vietnam]..."

"...Normal tour was twelve months but I kept extending so I went thru four colonels from when I got there, JUN 67 until when I finally left APR 70."

Dennis is survived by two sisters, some nieces and nephews, and a few very special caregivers, including Jamison, who was often referred to as "the son I never had."

Arrangements were handled by Bolling, Grose & Lotts Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

This is just a sliver of Dennis Dieckman's life. More will be posted here, soon.
