Joseph Fordsel "Ford" Ferris, 77, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord, Sunday April 29, 2007. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Micah Austin Ferris; biological parents, Posie and Myrtle Ferris; foster family, Jim and Flora Conner, Oakey and Dedith Conner and several foster brothers and sisters; brothers Jim Ferris and Garland Taylor. Mr. Ferris was a member of First Baptist Church and retired from John Hancock Steel with over 44 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret Wilson Ferris; son, David Ferris and wife Cindy; daughter, Amy Lambert and husband Kenny; grandchildren, Kaleb, Aaron and Nathaniel Lambert and Samuel Ferris; brother, Frank Ferris and wife Marie. Ford also leaves behind many loving family members, extended family and friends. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007 from Oakey's South Chapel with Dr. Bryan Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday May 1, 2007, at Oakey's South Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131 Fairfax, Va. 22038-1131. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel.
