Leo Leander Jantz, 93, died July 24,2018 at Brookdale Senior Living in Dodge City, Ks. He was born December 27,1924 in Gray County, the son of Reuben T. and Ella (Koehn) Jantz.

Leo graduated from Cimarron High School in 1943. He was the youngest of four Jantz brothers who served in World War II. He entered the army in 1946, despite physical problems with his knee, and shipped to Otsu, Japan as part of the occupation services there. His previous disability worsened and was granted a certified disability discharge and served until 1947.

Leo had two great loves in his life. He first married Billie Schminke on June 23,1949. They were married for 42 years before she preceded him in death in 1991. He Married Joan Payne on December 27,1996 in Cimarron, Ks. where they resided until their recent move to Dodge City. She preceded him in death in May of 2018.

Leo was a member of the Cimarron United Methodist Church. His favorite activities included watching Kansas Jayhawk basketball, gardening, golfing, carpentry and stained glass work.

He is survived by one son, Dennis Jantz and wife Pimchai of Rowlett, Texas; three grandchildren, Candice Jantz and husband Steven, Tiffani Jantz Fox and husband Montey and Chris Jantz all of Rowlett; two great grandchildren, Oliver Leo Fox and Colin Gieser. He is also survived by step children, Don Payne and wife Debbie of Ingalls, Ks., Guy Payne and wife Jan of Beaver, Oklahoma, Rex Payne and wife Lorrie of Satanta, Ks., Jake Payne and wife Terri of Cimarron, Ks., Lisa Payne Lloyd and husband Mark of Manhattan, Ks.; son-in-law,, Bob Moore of Ulysses, Ks. and daughter-in-law, Penny Payne of Fairview, Oklahoma; 16 great grandchildren and 21 step great grandchildren.k

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, two spouses and four siblings, Dallas Jantz, Anna May Clark, Millard Jantz and Frances Jantz.

Funeral services were held at the First United Methodist Church in Cimarron, Ks. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Mike Keating preceding with Military Honors at the gravesite in Greencrest Cemetery by KSARNG and Howard Gotschall Post 1714.
