Clara Alice Marshall Bowman, 84, of Mount Airy, N.C., died Thursday, April 25, 2002, at Northern Hospital of Surry County in Mount Airy.
She was born in Patrick County on May 7, 1917, and was a daughter of the late Granville and Mallie Puckett Marsjall.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Bowman; three sons, McKinley Bowman, R.M. Bowman and Paul Bowman; a grandson, Jody Bowman; two sisters, Leatrice Puckett and Uniter Bowman; and two brothers, Avery Marshall and Vernie Marshall.
She was retired from Renfro Corporation and was a member of Doe Run Baptist Church.
Surviving are three daughters, Velda Marshall of Ararat, Carlene Cain of Ararat, N.C., and Lucille Hooker of Stoneville, N.C.; five sons, Gray Bowman, Tim Bowman, Ted Bowman and Ricky Bowman, all of Ararat, and Harold Bowman of Cana; her stepmother, Ota Sumner of Ararat; two sisters, Ruth Marshall of Ararat and Delphia Bowman of Mount airy; 27 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one step grandchild.
Funeral services were held Saturday at Doe Run Baptist Church. The Revs. Homer Bowman, Edward Bowman, Ricky Martin and Jerry Whitlow officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were by Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.
