Gregory Vance Ondo, 71, of Punxsutawney, passed away Monday, July 23, 2018, at home.
He was born in Indiana, Pa. on May 21, 1947, the son of the late Paul and Alma Naomi (Wisor) Ondo.
Mr. Ondo was a lifelong businessman with a kind heart, always helping others.
He formerly owned C&S Restaurant, Little Casino and the Whispering Pines Bar in Clymer.
He loved gardening, but his true passion was antiques, which his mother ignited in him with a gift of a small antique coal bucket. Greg loved searching garage sales and flea markets for treasures. After his collection got too large, he opened an antique shop, first in Big Run and later moved the shop to Punxsutawney until it closed in 2017.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his father Paul in 1967 and his mother Alma in 1989; his brother, Paul Vaughn Ondo, in 2008; his sister, Paula Ondo, in 2016; and a nephew, Duane Paul Shultz, in 1969.
He is survived by his lifelong friend, Darrell "Butch" Pifer of Punxsutawney, his dog, Angel; three sisters, Florence (Bill) Conway-Fuller of Panama City, Florida, Cheryl Shultz and Bob Buterbaugh of Homer City, and Bonnie (Jerry) Stewart of Dixonville; Aunt Helen "Evelyn" Ondo of Creekside; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, at Shumaker Funeral Home, Inc. in Punxsutawney.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Cliff Vos.
Interment will follow at Pearce Cemetery.
