Mr. McBurney was one of seven children, three of whom lived to be more than 95 years and four of whom reached more than 80 years. Captain James McBurney, a brother, died at the age of 97. He passed away June 8, 1916,
Adam McBurney was born in Armox county, Ireland, in 1834. He came to America and Moline in 1854. He lived in this country several years, then returned to Liverpool, England. Upon his second voyage to this country, McBurney went to Kansas City, where he learned the painter's trade. After completing the entire course he came to Moline where he was a painting contractor.
Later he became a member of the grocery firm of Shaw & McBurney. Several years afterwards he retired from all business activities. He was married twice. His first wife was Harriet Wright. His second wife was Margaret Moorehouse. No children survive. Mr. McBurney was a member of the Masonic order.
Funeral services will be held in the home at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon under auspices of the Masonic lodge. Rev. P. C. Ladd will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery.
