"John Joseph Harvey Dies; Active in City Civic Affairs - John Joseph Harvey, 50, long active in civic and fraternal affairs of Titusville, died at 9:30 am Saturday in Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. He had been a patient there for 12 weeks. He was born Dec 14, 1916, the eldest son of John J and Alice Seep Harvey. He graduated from St Joseph Academy in 1934 and from Georgetown University in 1938. For several years Mr Harvey was an officer of the Bryan Hardware Co. Later he was a partner in the Harvey and Dubiel Supply Co. He was a member of the board of governors of the Georgetown University Alumni Association and was active in its affairs. He was Past Exalted Ruler of BPO Elks 264 of Titusville and served on its board of trustees. He was a member of the Fourth Degree of the Knights of Columbus and the Order of Alhambra, Adra Caravan No 79 of Erie. A member of St Titus Church, he served on its board of trustees. He was secretary of the board of directors of St Catharine's Cemetery. Mr Harvey was a past director of the Second National Bank. He also served in official capacities in the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce. He had been a member of the Titusville Country Club. He is survived by three brothers, James of Titusville, Joseph Seep of Oil City and Paul J of Honolulu, Hawaii; also several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the family residence at 314 W Main St...Requiem mass will be celebrated at 10 am Wednesday in St Titus Church. Interment will be in St Catharine's Cemetery...Arrangements are by the W M Curtis Funeral Home."
