Mary Ellyn Hutton
Cincinnati - Mrs. Mary Ellyn Hutton, devoted wife of the late Dr. John J. Hutton, passed away in her home surrounded by family under hospice care on May 28, 2018, at the age of 77.
She is survived by daughters Becky Fink of Tipp City OH and Elizabeth Hutton of Cincinnati, son Dr. John S. Hutton of Cincinnati, and 8 grandchildren.
Mary Ellyn was born in Lexington, KY, graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Kentucky and received a Masters in Music History from Yale University via a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship. A classically trained violist, she played in the Lexington Philharmonic and San Antonio Symphony, before devoting her talents to classical music writing for newspapers, magazines, and her blog, Music In Cincinnati. In addition to music, she loved flowers, animals, and world travel. A paragon of integrity, humor, intellect, and kindness, she will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
Services will be held Friday June 1 at Norman Chapel at Spring Grove Cemetery. 4521 Spring Grove Ave, Cincinnati, OH 45232. Visitation with family will be 10-11 AM followed by a memorial service 11AM-12 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts supporting classical music outreach & education in Cincinnati honoring Mary Ellyn are graciously appreciated; Constella for Kids Outreach, Concert Nova Outreach, MYCincinnati (Music for Youth in Cincinnati) www.springgrove.org.
