BOUNTIFUL Marjorie Parkin Winegar, 87, was born to Hyrum Bertran Parkin and Millesant Parrish Parkin on April 4, 1913 in Bountiful, Utah. She died peacefully on Thurs-day, October 19, 2000 in the arms of her daughter surroun-ded by other loving family members.

She married her sweetheart, Keith LeRoy Winegar, Sept. 17, 1930 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple for time and all eternity. They spent 58 years together before his death in 1987.

Marjorie created a beautiful, warm home where her family gathered for many special occasions to share love and her good cooking. She loved working in her garden and cared for it until shortly before her death.

Her greatest joys were her family, her home and the gospel. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities including the Relief Society presidency. In her younger years, she wrote roadshows, skits and poetry. She used her creative talents for the enjoyment of others. She was an active member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and was very proud of her pioneer heritage. Marjorie never missed an opportunity to teach her children and grandchildren about their ancestors and the principles of the gospel.

Marjorie organized groups to further oral education for the deaf. She was appointed by Governor Cal Rampton to the Board of Education for the Alexander Graham Bell Association to develop and integrate oral curriculum for deaf students in public schools. She also served as the first PTA president for the deaf schools in Salt Lake City.

She is survived by her five children, Dolores Seifert, Carolyn (Richard) Caniff, Anita Louise Winegar, Corwyn Keith Winegar, and Alayne Winegar; 13 beautiful grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, LeGrande Parkin and Stanley Karl Parkin; two special friends, Blanche (Bee) Ruflin and Della Winegar. Preceded in death by her husband, Keith; grandson, Derek Edward Seifert; granddaughter, Teri Lyn Cordon; her father and mother; sisters, Stella Louise Winegar, Beatrice Schulthies and Ruby Alice Barlow; brothers, Winford Eugene Parkin and Bertran Vandel Parkin.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 23, 2000 at 12 noon at the Barton Creek Ward chapel located at 640 S. 750 E., Bountiful, Utah. A viewing will be held at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 No. Main, Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Monday morning from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the chapel. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
