Old Settler Passes Away.

John A. Walliser, an old, old settler of this community, died Wednesday morning at 10:45 o'clock March 13, 1929, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Albert Colglazier, west of town. The end came after a lingering sickness from paralysis and Bright's disease. Funeral services will be held in the Methodist church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The obituary will appear next week.

An Aged Resident Laid to Rest.

The funeral of John Walliser, who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. L. Colglazier, west of town, Wednesday, March 13, 1929, was held in the Methodist church in this place Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Chas E. Davis. Music was furnished by a choir composed of Mrs. R. L. Mahaffey, Mrs. D.D. Wagoner, Mrs. Fred Hovious and Mrs. A.S. Bernheisel with Mrs. W.W. Thomas as accompanist. Interment was made in the Hartford cemetery. The pall-bearers were Messrs. J.O. Colglazier, Geo. Walliser, Martin Mueller, Bernard Finnerty, Jake Dickason and D.L. Wood

John Walliser was born Feb. 3, 1848, at Fairfield, Iowa, and was aged 81 years, 1 month and 11 days when death claimed him. He moved from Iowa to Kansas in 1879, and located in this vicinity, which has since been his home.

He was married to Sophia Baldosier in May, 1872. To this union three children were born, Gilbert Walliser, of Pueblo, Colo.; Nellie, who died in infancy, and Mrs. Albert A. Colglazier, of this place. The mother died in 1877. July 4, 1882, he was married to Nancy Ruby. To this union were born four children, Monroe Walliser and Mrs. Walter Phillips, of this place; Mrs. Fred Reed, of Pueblo, Colo., and Clifford Walliser, of Emporia, Kans. Mrs. Walliser died June 26, 1925. Three step-children, Mrs. Mae Halttorf, of Tampa, Florida; Mrs. George Baysinger, of this place, and Mrs. Claude Zink, of Burlington, Kans., survive. Twenty-seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive. All of Mr. Walliser's brother and sisters had preceded him to the Great Beyond.

Mr. Waliser united with the Methodist church in 1894 and has lived an honest, upright life, honored and respected by all who knew him. He ahd been afflicated for several years. For days and weeks his steps became more feeble and faint. Then he was laid upon his bedm yet his voice and memory were strong. Quietly and tranquilly he awaited his MAster's call. Having reached a ripe old age, living out the allotted time and more-over four score years- all could not help but realize his life's journey was nearly ended.
