Earnest Lonzo Cooper was born on February 7, 1885, in Billings, Missouri, the son of Sarah Francis "Fannie" Estes. His father was Louis Dice Cooper. Earnest was told at a young age by his grandfather that his mother died in childbirth. It is unknown if Sarah and Louis ever married but it is believed she later married a John Robert Teague and had fifteen more children. Earnest was raised by his maternal grandfather, Samuel David Estes in Lincoln, Christian, Missouri. He married Rosetta "Rosie" Varner on February 9, 1918, in Santa Ana, California. They had two children, Lloyd Lonzo Cooper born in 1920 and Rosetta June Cooper born in 1925. Sometime in 1952 after Rosetta's death, he married Annetta Alvira "Nettie" EMERY Wright. He was a talented musician and participated in bands with his violin and piano. He loved to sing Christian music and had a significant songbook to record the words to his songs. He died on February 4, 1968, in Gardena, California, at the age of 82 after a prolonged kidney illness.
