Despite years of continually seeking help from the mental health care community, Dante L. Piacitelli, 43, of Johnston, lost his arduous battle with mental illness.

Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of Donna L. (Cagno) DiSanto of North Providence and the late Louis A. Piacitelli,III. He lived in North Providence for many years before moving to Johnston.

Dante struggled most of his life with a very difficult and too often misunderstood disease called Depression. He was passionate about the betterment of humanity and was a sensitive, kind, gentle , selfless, soul who just wanted to feel “normal”. He loved deeply and was loved. If you got a hug from Dante, he gave it with all his heart. He will forever be in the hearts of his mom, Donna DiSanto, stepfather, Chris DiSanto, his longtime Big Brother, Roland Korn of New York; his aunts, uncles, cousins , great cousins and extended family and friends. He was the grandson of the late Thelma “Grammy” Aurelio, Louis A. Piacitelli, II, June Piacitelli and great grandson of Pasquale & Elisabeth Florio and Louis and Anna Piacitelli,.

A Mass of Christian Burial to which family and friends are invited will be held Friday at 11:00 am in St. Thomas Parish, 65 Fruit Hill Avenue, Providence. Visitation Friday 8-10am. Burial private. In memory of Dante, donations may be made to the charity of your choice. Please Omit Flowers.

“If you have peace of mind when you meet with problems and difficulties they won’t disturb your inner peace. You’ll be able to employ your human intelligence more effectively. But, if your mental state is disturbed, full of emotion, it is difficult to cope with problems, because the mind that is full of emotion is biased, unable to see reality. So whatever you do will be unrealistic and naturally fail”
