Donald Herr, 69, of The Regency Tower, 770 James St., died Wednesday at Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital. Mr. Herr was a life resident of Syracuse. He was the owner of Howard Johnson Motor Lodges in Binghamton and Vestal. Mr. Herr was a member and past trustee of Temple Society of Concord, a member of the LaFayette Country Club and a member and director of the New York State Hotel-Motel Association and had served as chairman of its committee on insurance. Mr. Herr had served on the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge Co. franchise committee, was a member of its insurance committee and had been regional chairman of Howard Johnson Operators Council. Surviving are his wife, Muriel; two sons, Michael and Steven, both of London, England; a daughter, Judy Bleyer of Villanova, Pa.; a sister, Inez Herr; and four grandchildren. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. today at Birnbaum Funeral Chapel, Rabbi Theodore S. Levy officiating. Calling hours will be 1 to 2 p.m. today at the funeral home, 1909 E. Fayette St. Contributions may be made to the Foundation of the Jewish Home of Central New York of the American Heart Association.
