He was fatally injured December 18 in a car accident a mile south of Deepwater on Highway 13. A church service was conducted December 20 at the Brownington Baptist Church. Internment was in Maplewood Cemetery at Brownington. Harvey John Thompson, fifth child of George Clark and Mary Catherine Plumlee Thompson, was born November 8, 1887, at Hartford, Ks. His mother preceded him in death and at the age of three years he made his home with his grandmother Thompson at Collins, Mo., where he grew to manhood. In 1909 he married Hattie Maud Wingfield who preceded him in death in 1952. One daughter Nina blessed this union who is now Mrs. Perry Hackley, Scott City, Ks. The Thompsons established their home in Kansas City where Mr. Thompson was a street car motorman. In 1912 they moved to Brownington for a short time, then to Collins and later returned to Brownington. Mr. Thompson was employed with the W. S. Dickey Tile Manufacturing Company until they transferred to Pittsburg, Ks., and he again took up his old trade as a painter in which he was still active at the time of his death. In 1954 he married Mrs. Oriva Hall of Deepwater where they made their home. Early in life he united with the Brownington Baptist Church, later transferring to the Deepwater Christian Church. A loyal and faithful companion, parent and friend he was sincere ion his convictions and was held in esteem by his many friends. His two grandsons, Carlos and Donald Reese, were his special delight and he was never happier than when on fishing trips with them or sharing their company in some manner. Besides his wife, his daughter and grandchildren he leaves three great-grandchildren; a sister Mrs. W. A. Crowder, Brownington; two half-brothers, Orvis Thompson, Osceola, Leon Thompson, Brentwood; four half-sisters, Mrs. John Arnold, Clinton, Mrs. Arch Bedford, Sunflower, Ks., Mrs. Celia Kerns, Mrs. Elsie Hunter, Jerseyville, Illinois, many other relatives and friends.
