Mrs. Retha Denton Kinman, 91, of Columbia, formally of St. Helena Island, SC passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018. She was born in Clinton, NC and was the daughter of the late Clarence and Lancey Baker Denton. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Clarence Wendell Kinman, Jr.; and her son: Clarence Wendell Kinman, III.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed a wide variety of literature. Until her 80's she enjoyed gardening. She was a good friend to many and had friendships that lasted multiple decades.

Mrs. Kinman is survived by her daughter: Fran K. King; son: Lenwood Cole Kinman; grandchildren: Rebecca K. Jones and Heather K (Chris) Dapolite; great grandchildren: Olivia Dapolite, Tyler Jones and Tess Jones; brother-in-law: James W. Kinman (Kristin); and sister-in-law: Ruth R. Denton.

A service to celebrate the life Mrs. Kinman will be held Monday July 23, 2018 at 3 PM in the chapel of Kornegay & Moseley. Visitation will begin prior to the service at 2 PM and at other times in the home. The service will be conducted by Mrs. Kinman's nephew, Rev. Dr. Tom Denton, and father Alexander McDonald. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Palmetto Health Hospice for the care they provided to Mrs. Kinman during her illness. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to Palmetto Health Hospice.
