Union soldier, civil War.Co. F, 56th PA Inf.Peter Gisewhite, an aged German resident of this city, died at his home 1508 Twelfth Street, very suddenly at 7 o'clock yesterday morning of heart disease.. He was around his home Saturday in his usual health, but was seized suddenly yesterday morning with the dread disease.

Peter was born un Union County, 89 years ago. He was a son of Abraham and Mary Ann Guisewhite. He was married to Anna Elizabeth Broom Aug 11, 1846 in Lewistown and then to Matilda Catherine Shell Trimel Aug 21, 1893.

He was the father to Step-son, John H Deal, (son from Elizabeth Broom 1st marriage); Abraham, born 1847in Mifflin Co.; Jasper Newton, born 1850 in Mifflin Co.; Matilda Catherine, born 1852; Alice Rhone, born 1854; Ezra or Ozar, born 1859; Mary Caroline (Carrie), born 1860.

He was a veteran of the Mexican and Civil Wars, having served during the latter war in the Fifty-sixth Pennsylvania volunteers. He was a member of the Post 176, Grand Army of the Republic, of Lewistown.

Peter is survived by four children, Mrs. Matilda Huller of Altoona; Mrs. Alice Rhone Fleck, of Philipsburg; Ozar of Mifflin County and Mrs. Carrie Lohr of Altoona.

Funeral services will be held at the house Tuesday forenoon in charge of the Grand Army of the Republic. Interment in the soldiers plot in Fairview cemetery.

John H.Deal, Peters' step son, was killed in the Civil War at Culpepper, Virginia on Sept. 13, 1863, serving in company C of the 44th Reg. 1st Calvary.
