CONNEAUT, Ohio _ Richard C. "Doc" Vibbard , 70, formerly of Conneaut, died Wednesday, April 30, 1997, at St. Luke's Hospital in Maumee, Ohio.

He was born in Conneaut on Aug. 12, 1926, son of Carl R. and Aleen Parker Vibbard .

Mr. Vibbard , a graduate of Conneaut High School, served in the U.S. Army for 21 1/2 years. He was a veteran of World War II, served two tours of duty in Korea, one tour in Vietnam and six years in Germany.

After his retirement from the army, Mr. Vibbard worked for the Newport News, Va., shipyard as an illustrator. He returned to Conneaut in 1970 and owned an antique business, "Doc's Antiques," until his retirement in 1996.

He was a member of American Legion Cowle Post 151, the VFW and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). He also belonged to the Eagles lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Marian Vibbard , in 1990, and a grandson, Franke Vibbard Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Richard C. Vibbard Jr. and Franke K. Vibbard , both of Toledo, Ohio; a brother, William Vibbard of Sterling Heights, Mich.; and a grandson, Richie.

No calling hours will be observed. Friends may attend a graveside service at Glenwood Cemetery on Saturday at 10 a.m. The Rev. Thomas Badanjek, pastor of Lakeview United Methodist Church, will officiate.

Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
