Our family mourns as we announce the passing of our beautiful boy, Ian Steven-James Pomeroy, on Tuesday, July 10, 2018. Ian battled courageously against an unrelenting cancer for nearly a year, and even though doctors couldn’t make him better, God did. He entered the world on May 25, 2012 in Saginaw, the son of Steven & Embery (Skinner) Pomeroy. Ian was a spirited kindergartener, wise beyond his years, that could make friends with anyone. He was an avid MSU fan and refused to sit in any chair with a U of M emblem on it, even while receiving treatment in Ann Arbor. He was happiest when surrounded by babies and was excited to welcome a little brother, expected soon, that he was able to name. Ian spent countless hours outdoors, and enjoyed riding anything with a motor, especially jet skis, dirt bikes and snowmobiles. An energetic blond hair boy, he was known for having fun in the sun, fishing, jogging, and running from the girls that loved to chase him. He could also be found playing games, watching YouTube, and was known as the “Bottle-Flip Champion” of the family. Although his years here were short, he leaves a legacy of bringing people together, and facing even the most unbearable challenges with love and courage.
Left to cherish Ian’s memory are his loving parents, Steven & Embery Pomeroy; siblings, Crystal (James) Mahan, Brandy (Pat) Henderson, KJ Mahan (Joanna Hardwood), Michael Pomeroy (Brittney Tallman), Brendan Pomeroy (Skye Donovan), Summer Mahan (Shane Marner), Kaitlyn Arebalo, Kolten Mahan, Jayden Mahan, and expected soon, Ryder William Pomeroy; grandparents, William & Laura Pomeroy, Alvina Skinner (Larry Giddings); aunts and uncles, William Pomeroy, Jr., Barb Goodman, Victoria Pomeroy, Chuck Skinner, Sheila Savage and Ruthann Skinner; great-aunt and “uncle-uncle,” Jim & Cathy Skinner; nieces and nephews, Ariel, Austin, Riley, Brooklynn, James, Carsen, Ava, Gracie, Bella, Isiak, Kenslee, Annabell, and expected soon, Gemma and Hailo; and many cousins. Ian was greeted in Heaven by his uncle, Michael Pomeroy; maternal grandfather, Charles Skinner; and uncle Frenchy.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Colwood Church in Caro with Rev. Dave Wilczynski officiating. The family will be present to receive friends at the Ransford Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to the Ian Pomeroy Family Discretionary Fund, c/o Embery Pomeroy, 205 West Sherman Street, Caro, MI 48723.
