Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Charles J. and Alice (Mathewson) Kelly.
Mary Susan worked as a clerk/typist for the State of Rhode Island during the Sundlun Administration in the Governor's Office of Energy Assistance. She then worked as a setter for Victoria Creations Jewelry in Warwick. Prior to working for the State, she was a hairdresser working in several different local hair salons.
She enjoyed listening to Irish music. An avid reader, she especially enjoyed the writings of Francis McCourt, an Irish-American teacher & writer and Pulitzer Prize winner.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son: Stephen Joseph Plante of North Kingstown and one sister: Kathleen Kelly of East Greenwich. Her brother, Charles W. Kelly died ten months ago on September 18, 2017.
A committal service will be held on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 10:00 AM in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery Columbarium Committal Center, 301 South County Trail, Exeter. Please gather inside the cemetery’s main entrance, on the main road just past the Administration Building, at 9:50 AM. Inurnment will be in the Cemetery’s Niche Wall.
In support of the Exeter Animal Shelter, the family requests donations in Mary Susan's memory be made to the Friends of Exeter Animals, PO Box 302, Exeter, RI 02822.
