Lois was born in LaGrange, TX, but was a longtime resident of Kansas City, KS, before moving to the Raymore area. In her youth, she played on the Dr. Pepper softball team. She was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed bowling. She graduated in 1945 from nursing school and volunteered at the U.S.O. She worked as a registered nurse at a nursing home before taking time off to raise her family. She returned to nursing, finishing her career at St. Luke's Hospital, where she worked for over 20 years. After her retirement, she volunteered to assist and counsel breast cancer patients. She was always a gracious individual, helping others out wherever she could. Lois even kept up correspondence with some of her former hospital patients. She had been a member of Epworth United Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending her leisure time watching the K.C. Chiefs, sewing, collecting angels and keeping tabs on her large family.
Lois is survived by her husband, Francis W. Crabtree ; her children and their spouses, Sharon Sanita, Linda Ross, Jim and Jody Greene, Ron and Paula Bennett, and Duane and Lynnette Bennett; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Chester Hobbs; sons-in-law, Eugene Sanita and Billy Ross; four children and three grandchildren by marriage; and her "babies," Mittens and Patches. This "yellow rose of Texas" was a loving woman with a tremendous heart who will be missed by all fortunate enough to have known her.
