Jason Absten made his last sarcastically, probably, inappropriate comment on Saturday, July 7, 2018, and as much as he loved to surprise and dumb-found others with humor that they most likely never understood, he was one of the most humble courageous humans to ever grace the Putnam County region.

He was a Cystic Fibrosis warrior who fought his entire life with an inspiring strength and courage that continued into his last days. He never ceased to ask the doctors and nurses entering his hospital room how their day was and reminded them to have a good day as they were exiting. He was a walking miracle.

Jason was an avid track and cross country runner and a graduate of Hurricane High, a WVU alum with two bachelor degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering and a talented auto mechanic. He encompassed a mathematical mind, and a quirky personality that you couldn’t help to adore, a fierce love for his family, friends and his sweet dog, Bella. Rarely would he grace your presence without proudly adorning a t-shirt displaying his love for video games and good t.v. shows.

Our loved one is survived by loving parents, siblings, nieces, nephews and an English springer spaniel who will continue to cherish his memory with love and admiration.

Visitation will be from 12-1pm, Thursday, July 12, 2018, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane. The memorial service will follow at 1:00 pm. All family, friends, and acquaintances are invited to celebrate Jason's life.

Chapman Funeral Home, family-owned and located at 3941 Teays Valley Road, Hurricane is honored to serve the Absten family.
