Jane Ballentine Desso, of Irmo, died peacefully at home on her 93rd birthday, Sunday, March 18, 2018. Born in Richland County, S.C., on March 18, 1925, she was a daughter of the late William Joseph and Mattie Eva Lindler Ballentine. Mrs. Desso retired from Carolina Eastman and was a lifetime member of Salem United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth “Dottie” Knox, Patricia Mayer (Greg), Barbara Howard (Ray), Gloria McDowell (Sheldon), and Jacqueline Foster (Keith); grandchildren, Cheryl Shealy, Kathy Hayes, Bryan Mayer, Dargan Davidson, Kristi Foster, Amanda Foster, Anna Howard, Will Howard, Casey Desso, Rusty Desso, Chris McDowell, Kaylin Sanford; 16 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mahlon Desso, she was preceded in death by her sons, Joseph and Michael Desso; grandchildren, Tyler and Travis Thomas; four brothers and one sister.
