BLAKE, Mary Claire Reid, 79, a resident of Hayneville, AL, departed this life peacefully on Thursday, November 8, 2001 at Baptist Medical Center South with her loving husband and daughters by her side.

Funeral services will be held at Hayneville Methodist Christian Church on Sunday, November 11, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Travis Barnes and the Rev. Earl Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Myrtlewood Cemetery, Ft. Deposit, AL.

Mrs. Blake was born in Ft. Deposit, AL. She attended Montevallo College for Women, graduated from the University of Alabama and received a Masters degree from the University of Mississippi. She was an elementary school teacher for over 20 years in Alabama, Panama Canal Zone, Georgia, Kansas, Germany, Virginia and Mississippi. The last two years of her career were spent teaching at Lowndes Academy in Lowndesboro, AL. She enjoyed participating in activities with both Alabama 60+ Golf Association and Mississippi Golf Association. She was a faithful member of Hayneville Methodist Christian Church.

Mrs. Blake was a devoted wife and mother and is survived by her husband of 56 years, Col. (Ret.) Thomas B. Blake, Hayneville, AL; three daughters, Sarah (Bill) Meadows, Dumfries, VA, Anne (Jent) Mitchell, Stephens City, VA and Becky (Carl) Kellum, Tupelo, MS. She is also survived by her brother, George (Claire) Reid, Ft. Myers, FL; 10 grandchildren, Laura (Jim) Blue, Morgantown, WV, Jennifer (David) Smith, Knoxville, TN, Kathleen (Tim) Haines, Valparaiso, IN, Tom Meadows, Dumfries, VA, Jentry Mitchell, Golden, CO, Tom Mitchell, Stephens City, VA and Martha Kellum, Luke Kellum, Jim Kellum and Ben Kellum, all of Tupelo, MS; one nephew, Sam (Terri) Reid; one niece, Kathryn Reid, Americus, GA and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and gradsons-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Alabama 60+ Golf Association. Memorial contributions can be made to the Hayneville Methodist Christian Church Building Fund or the Methodist Children's Home, Selma, AL. Leak-Memory Chapel Directing
