St. George - Adelia Jane Wheeler Killian passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at the St. George Care Center just short of her 96th birthday.
Dee, as she was always known, was born in Antelope, Idaho on August 31, 1922
to Oscar Lee and Ida Isabelle Moss Wheeler.
Her mother died when Dee was two years old and when she was nine her father passed away.
Dee lived with different relatives and also the Summers family in Ririe, Idaho, where she attended school.
She attended high school in Ogden, Utah and Rigby, Idaho where she met and married Harvey Elmer Killian on November 22, 1940.
They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Dee and Harvey raised two daughters, Marillyn (Duane) Greer of Orem, Utah and Marsha (Ken) Lawhorn of St. George.
Dee worked for many years for the Idaho Department Store in Nampa, Idaho.
On retirement,
she and Harvey served as Ordinance Workers at the Boise Temple
before serving a mission in Richmond, Virginia
for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
In 1998, Dee and Harvey moved to St. George, where Harvey died in 2003.
Dee loved flowers and raised beautiful iris and lilies; she liked to read, crochet and sew.
After Dee broke her hip in 2015, the St. George Care Center became her home.
She has many dear friends and caregivers there.
Thanks to them and St. George Hospice for their kindness to her.
Dee was preceded in death by two brothers:
Tharel Lee Wheeler
and Oscar Searl Wheeler;
and sisters: Louise Keller,
Nola Wheeler and Arreva Fisher.
She is survived by both daughters,
15 grandchildren,
and over 70 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. George 16th Ward Chapel, 550 East 700 South, St. George, Utah.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, prior to services, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.
