Charles Alton "Charlie" Rankin Jr., 45, of Culpeper died Sept. 13 after a long illness. He was born in Fauquier County to Charles Alton Rankin Sr. and Pearl Payne Rankin. He is survived by his wife, Karen Clybern Rankin; his daughter, Amberly Marie Rankin; and his son, Jordan Matthew Rankin, all of Culpeper. Survivors also include his parents, who reside in Culpeper; siblings Carolyn Georgiades of Culpeper, Lawrence Sowers of Madison and Katherine Pendleton of Madison; and extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Clayborne and Naomi Rankin, and Fanny and Bossie Payne. A funeral service was held Sept. 17 at Midland Church of the Brethren, Midland, followed by interment in the Midland Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Midland Church of the Brethren Family Fund, which assists families in need.
