Laura Ballenger Cunningham was born March 13, 1901 at Melton, Oklahoma and departed this life Wednesday, December 13, 1939. She was married to Richard Travis Cunningham in November, 1919.

She leaves to mourn her going three children, Dea Barton, Richard Travis and Jackie Cunningham. Three sisters, Mrs. Stella Lyons, Mrs. Sulah Wilson, both of Pampa, Texas and Mrs. Willie Shelton of Herring, Oklahoma survive her. Also three half- sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Arnold, Clovis, New Mexico, Mrs. Mildred Payne,. Cheyenne, Oklahoma and Mrs. Beulah Rae Craig of Pueblo, Colorado and two half-brothers B.M. and J.W. Ballenger of Strong City, Oklahoma, besides her husband, R.T. Cunningham and her father Dr. B.M. Ballenger, two uncles, Wesley and Morton Shepherd of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma many nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

She joined the Christian church when she was 14 years of age, having lived in this county most of her life, has a wide circle of friends, among whom she will be really missed. She has been in poor health the last few years of her life but her uncomplaining nature and her jolly disposition, caused even those of her friends who were nearest to her to be unaware of her serious condition.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist Church of Cheyenne Thursday afternoon with Rev. Menard preaching the sermon. Her body was laid to rest in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Ruby Phillips and daughter and Mrs Mabel Henthorn, close friends of Mrs. Cunningham, of Dalhart, Texas, arrived in Cheyenne late Thursday afternoon, too late for the funeral.
