Lester M. (Skip) Sly, 73, of Pocono Pines, died Thursday, Dec. 30, at Geisinger Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre. He was the husband of Patricia (Tibbits) Sly. Born in Portage, Wis., he was the son of the late Lester J. and Irmagarde (Williams) Sly. Before his retirement, Lester was employed by AT&T for more than 30 years. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church in Pocono Pines; volunteer at the Clymer Library; life member of the Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company No. — in Hillsborough, N.J.; and served as "Santa Claus" for many years. Lester was a U.S. Air Force veteran, who served in Korea from 1950 to 1954. In addition to his wife, Patricia, he is survived by one son, Daniel Sly of Slatington; four daughters, Sharon Steves of Geneva, Ill., Pamela Kerwin of Bethlehem, Patti Twaits of Hoptacong, N.J. and Peggy Sielski of Flagtown, N.J. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Karen Miller. The Rev. Father John Boyle will celebrate a Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Pocono Pines. Interment of ashes will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of the Lake Church, P.O. Box O, Pocono Pines, PA 18350; or Clymer Library, HC 89, Box 39B, Pocono Pines, PA 18350. Cremation services were entrusted to the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 and 390, Paradise Valley.
