Her second husband Dr. Thomas L. Murphy died 16 Mar 1861 in his 61st year. At a very young, Thomas served as a Surgeon's Assistant (Mate) to Dr. Joseph Allender during the War of 1812 and tended to the wounded at the Battle of North Point during the attack on Baltimore. Dr. Thomas L. Murphy m. Rebecca E. Creswell on Nov 8 1850. He enlisted on Sep 11 1814 under Lt. Col Wm McDonald and served until Nov 18 1814 and assigned to the medical department on Sep 13.
