Her first husband was John Creswell, son of the founder of Port Deposit. Her son was Congressman/Attorney John A.J. Creswell of the George E Lemon Office who filed her pension. The Maryland Historical Magazine has a long article about him as one of the nation's finest Postmaster Generals. His grandfather founded Port Deposit originally called Creswell Ferry. Vol. 64 No 2 1969. John Creswell, married Rebecca E, daughter of Jonathan and Rachel Webb, of Pine Grove, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. . . . Her second husband Dr. Thomas L. Murphy died 16 Mar 1861 in his 61st year. At a very young, Thomas served as a Surgeon's Assistant (Mate) to Dr. Joseph Allender during the War of 1812 and tended to the wounded at the Battle of North Point during the attack on Baltimore. Dr. Thomas L. Murphy m. Rebecca E. Creswell on Nov 8 1850. He enlisted on Sep 11 1814 under Lt. Col Wm McDonald and served until Nov 18 1814 and assigned to the medical department on Sep 13.
