Adolph Duane Corn, “A. Duane” as he liked to be called.

He was born in the unincorporated town of Velpen, IN on June 22, 1925 and was the last surviving child of the late Wilford (b 1878) and Minnie (b1884) Corn.


A member of “the greatest generation,” Duane served in the 63rd Infantry Division, 563rd Signal Company, of the U.S. 7th Army during WWII in France and Germany, December 1944 through April 1946. After VE day he was assigned to work in “Ikes” headquarters in Germany and was honorably discharged stateside in May 1946. He was fortunate to attend Purdue University on the GI bill where he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering and went on to careers with Whirlpool in Evansville, IN and St. Joseph, MI.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; siblings, Mabel Copeland Barnes, Sibyl Greene, Willford Earl, Lois, Ramond Arthur, Lawrence Henry, and Dorothy Evelyn Survant.
