Vivian Delores Frey Hernandez passed on to the Lord peacefully on Tuesday evening, July 3, 2018. She was 94 years old.

Beloved wife of the late John Curtis Hernandez.

Loving mother of Andrea Bacino (Luke), Roy Hernandez (Darleen), Stephen Hernandez (Kim), and Douglas Hernandez (Roy).

Grandmother of 8 and great-grandmother of 24; known to them and many others as MGILY (My God I Love You).

Daughter of the late Louis and Louise Frey.

Sister of the late Louise Sullivan, Frances Dugas, Agnes Frey, Marie Inez Jolly, Louis Frey, John Frey, and Bernadette Meyer.

Also survived by her sister-in-law, Shirley Blouin Frey and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Vivian was a native of Donaldsonville and was a longtime resident of Harahan.

She graduated from Hotel Dieu School of Nursing in 1945. Vivian viewed her vocation as a nurse much more of a calling than a job, and consistently placed the needs of her patients above her own during her 45 years of private duty nursing.

She enjoyed much of her retirement with the Ochsner Retiree group of the "Off Shoots".

She had a very genuine concern for people, never met a stranger, and was always at your side when needed.

Vivian was one of the founding parishioners of St. Rita in Harahan, and was a faithful adorer in their Perpetual Adoration Chapel.

The family would like to give special thanks to the entire staff of St. Joseph Hospice for their loving care and in lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory to St. Joseph Hospice, 6464 Jefferson Highway, Ste A, Harahan, Louisiana 70123 are preferred.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at ST. RITA OF CASCIA, 7100 Jefferson Highway, Harahan, on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 12:00. Visitation will begin at 10:00 in the morning. Interment will follow in Ascension of the Lord Cemetery, Donaldsonville.
