Meteghan, 24 Jan - Mrs. Sophie Comeau, widow of Vincent J. Comeau, of Meteghan River, passed away peacefully at her home midday Friday, January 21st at the extraordinary age of 107 years and 6 months. Last surviving member of the family of the late Sylvain d'Entremont and Marguerite LeBlanc of West Pubnico, she was born in that parish on July 17, 1836. When Canada was erected as a Dominion, she was 31 years old. And this old woman who belonged to an age already surpassing history kept all her faculties until her last moments. Her marriage with Vincent Comeau had occurred 84 years ago, he was blessed at Pubnico by Father Blanchet. Mr. Comeau passed away 24 years ago after sixty years of a happy married life.
