Funeral services for Charlene Kolb Gann, 79, of Lufkin will be held Friday, July 7, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Rick Williams officiating. A private family interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Memorial Park.



Mrs. Gann was born January 23, 1939 in Old Hickory, Tennessee to the late Ethelene (Gibbs) and Charles Edward Dickens, and died Tuesday, July 3, 2018 in Lufkin.



Mrs. Gann had resided in Lufkin for 44 years and previously lived in Henderson. She graduated from Anchorage, Alaska High School in 1956.

She was a member of The Old Hickory Tennessee High School Alumni Association, Henderson Garden Club, Angelina Arts Alliance, and Lufkin Dance Club. She was an avid bridge player, a member of many bridge clubs, and was a Wedding Director of many Lufkin weddings.



Family was very important to Mrs. Gann and she was very active in her children and grandchildren’s lives. She was present at all activities and never missed a school function. She was a Den Mother in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, a GA Leader, and was a member of the PTA. Mrs. Gann was a member of Carpenter’s Way Baptist Church and was also a church Secretary for 27 years.



Survivors include her husband of 10 years, Woody Gann of Lufkin; son, Steve Kolb and wife Dede of Lufkin; daughter, Anita Scoggins and husband Robert of Lufkin; grandchildren, Jacob Scoggins and Amy Campbell and husband Cole, all of College Station, Sarah Anne Scoggins and Diana Kolb, both of Lufkin; one great-grandchild on the way; brother, Jimmy Dickens of Stewart, Tennessee; sister, Judy Taylor and husband Mike of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; Mr. Gann’s children, Tom Gann and Natalie Crowson and their families, all of Lufkin; chosen family, Vicky Riggs, Jessica Shepherd, and Albert Bent and wife; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.



She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Jerry Kolb whom she met in Anchorage, Alaska; and brother, Mike Smith.



Pallbearers will be Steve Hicks, Gerald Crump, Mark DuBose, Brett Gibbs, Jim Haley, and Reese Hubbard.



Honorary pallbearers will be John Smith, Jeff Stifle, Blaine Luna, and Kelly Jones.



Memorial contributions may be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association, East Texas Regional Office, 304 N. Raguet Street, Suite C, Lufkin, Texas 75904.



The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses at PineCrest Retirement Community and the staff at Hospice in the Pines.



The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home
