Funeral services for Elder Grady Monroe McGinness, 79, of Alexandria,Tn. Services were held at the Helton Creek The Baptist Church, on Feb 3. Elders, Glynn Roy Love, Frank Randolph and Mike Clayborn officiated.
Burial followed at Salem Cemetery in Liberty, TN.
Elder McGinnis passed away at his home in Alexandria, Tuesday morning Feb.1.
He was born in the Indian Creek Community of Dekalb County, Tn. December 23, 1920, to his parents, the late Robert McGinnis and Carrie Taylor Watson McGinnis.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, William Roy Watson, Robert Jewell McGinnis and Cleborn 'Mac' McGinnis.
Elder McGinnis was a retired Insurance agent with the National Life and Accident Company of Nashville.
A Veteran of World War II, serving from OCtober 1944 to August 1945, and was a member of the
Alexandria Masonic Lodge No. 175, F.&.A.M.
Elder McGinnis's life as a Minister spanned 60 years. He joined Helton Creek The Baptist Church in August 1944 and was ordained in October 1952. In the following years, he served as pastor of the following Churches, Macedonia, in Smith County, TN. Helton Creek in Dekalb Co. Mt.View in Dekalb County, The Pilgrim in Davidson County.Tn. Friendship in Warren County, Indian Mound in Dekalb County, and Harmony Grove in Alabama. He preached his last sermon at the 153rd Annal Session of The Baptist in October 1999.
Survivors include his wife , Mary Athelene Malone McGinnis of Alexandria, a daughter and soni-n-law,
Miranda and James Thomas 'Tommy' Harvey of Alexandria, and three grandsons, James Randal Harvey and his wife, Tara, of Alexandria, Kevin Bryan Harvey and his fiancee, Angela Redman of Smithville and Jeremy Chad Harvey of Alexandria.
Pallbearers were James Randall Harvey, Kevin Bryan Harvey, Jemery Chad Harvey, Charles Clayborn, James Wright, Roger Pennycuff, Neil Pennycuff and Roy Dale Curtis.

Honorary pallbearers were his fellow Baptist Ministers.
Avant Funeral Home in Alexandria, TN. was in charge of arrangements.
