Marian C. Briggs, age 92, passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018, at home. She was born in Neillsville, WI on March 4, 1926, the daughter of Harley and Mary (Ellis) Wall. She married her high school sweetheart Arthur Briggs on January 18, 1947, in Janesville at First Congregational Church where they have been lifelong members. She was a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II working at Parker Pen. Marian worked in the Janesville School system as a teachers aide until her retirement in May of 1994. She enjoyed traveling, camping, fishing, going to the casino, playing cards, and just being with her family. Marian is survived by her loving husband of over 71 years, Art; 3 children: Connie (Ed) Gretschmann, James H. (Carol Klingforth) Briggs, and Janet (Mark) Carlson; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; special niece, Susan Stoughton; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Fred and Lynn; and sister, Gertrude Gretschmann. She will be dearly missed; to know her was to love her. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018, at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST. A visitation will be held on Thursday July 5th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY and a visitation will be held prior to the service on Friday at 12 noon at FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST.
