Aurora, Utah - Sara Vivian Anderson Roper, age 74, passed away at her home in Aurora on June 30, 2018. She was born January 25, 1944 in Junction, Utah, a daughter of Oliver Martel and Vera Knudsen Anderson. She spent her childhood in Junction and graduated from Piute High School, Class of 1962. She then attended Snow College and C.S.U. (Southern Utah University) in Cedar City and graduated with a Teaching degree in Education and spent the rest of her life in some aspect of teaching.

Sara met and later married Glen Lee Roper February 20, 1970 in the Manti LDS Temple and they recently celebrated their 48th Anniversary. They had three children.

Sara loved children and loved to teach. She taught kindergarten and 2nd grade in the Granite School District for several years. She then started a home day care which continued in some form until she retired in 2007. In 1995, Gunnison Hospital asked her to start a day care center for the employees children. She managed this until her 2007 retirement. Hundreds of children loved her and were taught by her. She loved going to her kids weddings and mission farewells.

She was also active in the LDS Church, teaching Primary, serving as Primary President and Teacher Development Leader. She taught many of the teachers in the Aurora 2nd Ward how to teach their classes. She also spent several years teaching the Gospel Doctrine Class and was loved by all who attended.

She spend the last 9 years working with her husband Glen, as Temple workers in the Manti Temple. and enjoyed this experience very much. She has numerous friends whom she met there who will miss her each week.

Sara is survived by her beloved husband, Glen, of Aurora; children: Brenda McCandlass of Murray and Wendy Hunter of Aurora; 6 grandchildren: Brittini, Alyssia and Anika McCandlass, Derek Criddle, Aden and Hannah Hunter; her siblings: Robert and Nikki Anderson of Genola; Sonja Bailey of Washington City; Mary Alcea Slack of Richfield; sisters-in-law: Debbie Anderson of St. George and Marjorie Anderson of Murray. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ernie Roper, who died in 2007; her siblings: Kent Anderson, George Anderson, Milton Anderson, Vernon Anderson, Joel Randal Anderson, Betty Rae Anderson and Janel Bay.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. in the Aurora 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Aurora City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
