David “Dave” L. Peters, age 81, of Janesville, formerly of Edgerton, passed away on Friday, June 29, 2018, at Agrace Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, Janesville. He was born in Edgerton on October 5, 1936, the son of Harold “Bud” and Bernice (Stricker) Peters. Dave was a 1954 graduate of Edgerton High School. He married the love of his life, Alice Jean Andersen on December 29, 1957, at Central Lutheran Church, Edgerton. Dave had been previously employed with Highway Trailer, Janesville Senior Center and lastly working in the building maintenance department at the Hedberg Library, until his retirement in 2013. In his early years he enjoyed hunting and fishing but for his entire life, Dave’ favorite pastime was woodworking. For the past 6 years, he religiously attended the Janesville Athletic Club, where he made numerous friends. Family was everything to Dave and even as his health declined, he reassured his children and grandchildren by saying, “Smile, don’t cry. I’ve had a wonderful life, and accomplished all that I wanted to!”

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Alice Jean; 3 children: Bob (Mary) Peters, Barbara Johnson and Kim (Tom) Mangione; 8 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers; John Peters and Bill Peters both of Janesville; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Brenda; and sister, Diane Mayer.
