Ruthe Williams Ballard, 96, beloved wife of the late Lawson Hugh Ballard, of, Greenville, SC, died June 27, 2018. Born in Waco, TX, January 31, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Rosie Williams and the last surviving child of 13 siblings. Surviving are her daughters Barbara Ballard and her husband, Tom Plott of Black Mountain, NC. , Judy Ballard Waggoner of Mount Pleasant, SC. , and her son, Lawson H. Ballard, Jr. and his wife, Marianne of Greenville, SC.; four grandchildren: Lawson Ballard III, and his wife Kelli of Greenville, SC., Katherine Ballard of Alexandria, VA., Ryan Waggoner, and Christopher Waggoner and his wife Kaitlyn; great-grandsons, Noah and Hudson Waggoner all of Mount Pleasant, SC. She was predeceased by a daughter, Emily Susan Ballard and her son-in law Richard Lee Waggoner Mrs. Ballard was a homemaker and member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She served in the Women of the Church as Circle Co-Chairman, Westminster representative to the Greenville Council of Church Women, the Fellowship Committee, the Wedding Committee, as a Sunday School teacher, and was a member of the Westminster Prayer Chain. She also received the honorary Life Membership presented by Westminster Presbyterian Women. She was active in Girl Scouts, a member of the Greenville Country Club and the Poinsett Club. She was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Marine Corps – Women’s Reserve, Henderson Hall, Arlington VA.
