The son of Rev. James B. Admire and Rachel May (Veach)Admire, Jacob was an attorney and newspaper publisher. He also served in the Civil War. He married Emma Lewis, daughter of Dr. Eli Lewis in Sept. of 1867 in Newburg, Warrick Co., Indiana. Their children were James Lewis, Mina, and Eli Admire. The town of Admire, Kansas was named for Jacob Veach Admire.
