Siblings of Annie Alvis Whitfield Allen: Zola V Whitfield Yankie, Alta Dee Whitfield Rogers, Minnie Lee Whitfield Weaver Morgan, Edmund "William" Whitfield; two half-brothers: William M "Will" Whitfield, James Coleman "Jim" Whitfield. Their father, Cebren William Whitfield called Annie Alvis, his youngest daughter, "Dade", and we knew her in the family as Aunt Dade. We can only assume he called her that because of pleasant memories of Dade County, Florida, as he did come to Texas from Florida after the loss of his father in The War Between the States.

Aunt Dade worked at J. C. Penney Dept. Store for many years, and on special occasions would give beautiful matching dresses to my sister Gay and me. She was very special, the youngest sister of our Grandmother Zola Whitfield Yankie and a beautiful person inside and out. She had beautiful, very blue eyes. (Information provided by her great niece, Nancy Yankie.)
