The Rev. Wade L. Austin, 81, of St. Albans, passed away Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital, Huntington. Born May 14, 1927, in Concord, N.C., he was a son of the late Raymond and Trudy Austin. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Iris, and his brother, Raymond Jr. He pastored many churches in North Carolina, Kentucky and West Virginia, with most of his work being in West Virginia. After retirement in 1990, he served for six years as the minister of music at Fifth Avenue Church of God, South Charleston. He was a 1945 graduate of Concord High School and a Navy veteran. Surviving: wife of 61 years, Allene Earley Austin; sons, Danny Austin and his wife, Judy, of Beavercreek, Ohio, Donnie Austin of Fayetteville; grandsons, Michael, Nick and Reed Austin; great-granddaughter, Bailey, and another soon to be born; sister-in-law, Anne Long and her husband, George, of Concord.
